Here you will find great information about our local tobacco free coalition which serves Calumet and Outagamie Counties and the City of Appleton, Wisconsin.
Our Mission
Is to promote healthy tobacco-free lifestyles to all members of the community.
Who We Are
In Outagamie and Calumet Counties, 20% of adults and 19% of youth currently smoke. The use of tobacco is the single most preventable cause of disease and premature death in these counties. Annually, the direct health care cost of smoking in these two counties is $42,000,000.00 dollars (42 million). Funded by the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services-Division of Tobacco Control, the coalition has four main project areas. They include Youth Prevention; Second Hand Smoke; Smoking Cessation; and working with Disparate Populations. The coalition is made up of over 200 residents and corporate leaders who want to make a significant impact on the health of our community.
What We Do:
We work to educate people about the effects of secondhand smoke, the economic toll that tobacco takes on all citizens, and the devastating toll it takes on families and loved ones. We provide resources for people who want to stop smoking; we work to prevent youth from ever using tobacco; we help businesses go smoke-free; we work with retailers to be sure that youth do not have access to tobacco. We work to make environmental changes to affect the greatest change in a smaller amount of time.
If you would like to join us, many volunteer opportunities are available. We meet monthly in Calumet and Outagamie Counties. The meeting schedule for the remainder of this year is as follows:
