Bar Owners predicted that Appleton would become a ghost town and business would be lost if they enacted a 100% smoke free worksite policy.  So, three years later, what do we see?

 1) Liquor Licenses:   High Demand for Liquor licenses.   Wait list of 14 decreased to 6 currently up to 12  (Historical First)

2.)  Number of licensed liquor establishments (class B) increased
from 112 to 124.
(Current owners opening new establishments in Appleton under same license)

3.)  No closures of ANY bar on the city side of the Appleton border with neighboring communities.

4.)  On average, the value of property in Appleton's Central Business District has increased by 32% since the last assessment in 2003.

5.)  Four current hospitality business owners in Appleton have either renovated, expanded, or built new establishments in the City of Appleton. 

6.)  People traffic has increased by 38% in downtown Appleton since 2003.

7.)  Five (5) Bar Owners in neighboring communities have gone totally smokefree because they are losing their business to Appleton hospitality venues. 

8.)  Appleton Youth smoking rates are 3% lower than the rest of the state of WI, due to the 100% smokefree worksite policy.
